Hyderabad, Nov. 1: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) has demanded an unconditional apology from the Chief Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, for allowing the recital of the song Maa Telugu Talliki Mallepudanda after the national flag was hoisted at the NTR stadium on AP Formation Day.

The party demanded the withdrawal of the song from all official functions immediately.

“Only the national song must be sung after hoisting the national flag at all official functions. Whose permission did the state government take to recite Maa Telugu Talli at an official function? Has the government sought the permission of the Centre? The government must answer these questions,” the TRS chief, Mr K. Chandrashekar Rao said.

Speaking to reporters he said: “When there is no Talli (mother) for other Indian languages, where does Telugu Talli come from? This only shows the conspiracy of Andhra rulers and settlers to undermine the Telangana identity. We will never allow this to happen.”

“We had confidence in Mr Rosaiah that he will allow only the national song to be sung after hoisting the national flag due to the controversy over Maa Telugu Talli. But he too showed his true colours like his predecessors and displayed the ‘settlers arrogance’. He should tender an unconditional apology to Telangana people for hurting their sentiments,” Mr Rao added.
